MCA-Nepal in partnership with the Department of Roads (DoR) completed a two-week-long deflection measurement of road pavement of four major road sections using a Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD) on 10 April 2023.
The data collection of the pavement deflection was started from Mugling-Narayangadh road section in Chitwan district on 25 March 2023.
The data acquired will be used to prioritize sections for road maintenance.

The data collection work was conducted on Narayangadh – Mugling, Kanchanpur – Nadaha, Dharan – Dhankuta Hile and Dhankhola – Lamahi road sections.
The Falling Weight Deflectometer (FWD), a device used to evaluate pavement and pavement layer stiffness, is being introduced in Nepal for the first time under the Road Maintenance Project of the MCC Nepal Compact.
