MCA-Nepal completed forest census works in seven districts namely Chitwan, Dhading, Makwanpur, Nawalparasi East, Nawalparasi West, Palpa and Tanahun by March 2024.
The activity was carried out to document and provide details of forest area and the number of trees that need to be cleared in the community and to identify leasehold and government forests affected by the Electricity Transmission Project. Based on the data collected, MCA-Nepal will plan appropriate mitigation measures.
The census will be carried out in all ten districts where the Electricity Transmission Project will be implemented.
Additional Consultations with CFUGs in Dhading
MCA-Nepal organized additional consultations with Community Forest User Groups (CFUGs) in Dhading from 28 – 30 January 2024 with representatives from eight CFUGs. The additional consultations were carried out as identified by the forest census field verification team.
Bhasme Lamapokhari Community Forest User Group, Setidevi Community Forest User Group, Jharlang Community Forest User Group, Juretham Community Forest User Group, Barhamure Community Forest User Group, Yakata Community Forest User Group, Sulikhola Community Forest User Group and Bhasme Pakha Community Forest User Group took part in the consultations.
